Among custom trade show exhibits, the exhibition booth for Xypex Corporation stands out in its strength and simplicity. With the many abstract principles involved in concrete waterproofing, the company needed to deliver that message in a clear, memorable manner. 3DS’ technical model builders came up with a booth uses a multi-component system, configurable in a variety of combinations, and the entire fabrication appears to be made of actual concrete. In real life, this would weigh upwards of 50,000 lbs. However, all booth fixtures are hollow and easily moveable. Behind the simple facade are complex yet efficient electronics and fiberoptics, illustrating the principles central to understanding concrete waterproofing. Text was kept generally to a minimum and technical models with fiberoptics were used to augment the main message with specific details.
