RAILROAD HISTORY BRINGS EXTRA DIMENSION TO A MUSEUM-LIKE SALES CENTER: At another great nexus of railroad connections is Winter Park, located near the entrance to Colorado’s famous Moffat Tunnel, longest train tunnel in the world. In 1928, the Moffat Tunnel gave Denver a long-needed western link through the Continental Divide, radically shortening transport & shipping routes. This mountain resort visitors center, like a number of 3DS projects, has an aspect of museum exhibit to it, as might be expected with any development built in such an historic location.
Antique Reproduction
Centerpiece of the main room is an imposing, upended antique railroad boiler impeccably re-created by 3DS and ringed with illuminated vintage railroad photos. The entrance to the theatre is a antique boxcar door reproduction, correct in every detail. Throughout the visitor center, signage, photos, graphics, project models and other touches continue to connect the development to its location’s historic railroad past.
