Vancouver Museum
Vancouver, BC. CANMechanical Museums Exhibits
A LOW-TECH MECHANICAL INTERACTIVE SOLUTION THAT SETS VISITORS SPINNING: In this extensive Vancouver history exhibit, amid numerous historic reproduction signs and period streetcar at the Vancouver Museum, 3DS created a basic yet information-rich interactive display. Using the simplest of physical principles and with a very modest footprint, this 15-cube, mechanical interactive exhibit can spin to present items in any combination and convey four times the information of a fixed-position display of similar size. This allows plenty of room for large, engaging visuals and helps to avoid content overload on any one panel. Design of each panel is kept simple and visitors focus on one point at a time, progressing at their own pace. This is an entirely old-fashioned approach, but is more absorbing than many more modern alternatives, fascinating children and adults, alike.
