FROM TIRED TO TIDY, IN A FEW SIMPLE STEPS: This food court, in Sunday River, Maine, one of the state’s largest ski resorts, was in some of the most run-down condition we’d ever seen. As often happens, the decor had not been touched since the Seventies and the cafeteria design had deteriorated considerably under decades of traffic.
3DS did a quick, low-cost remodeling of three facilities, each with a different character, but all on a very tight budget. We took one space from a back room afterthought to a comfortable, appetizing environment with a clear sense of flow, by fine tuning the serving line and designing unified fronts for the cafeteria kiosks. In another, we restricted our tools simply to paint, lighting and signage for the existing space and fixtures, proving how powerful colour and visual branding can be. Huge improvements in sales resulted in all three facilities, as a direct result of this food court remodeling.
